Although this may look like we are simply building towers, we are using spatial thinking here. To wrap up our 3D shapes, we had a challenge. Our challenge was to create a new shape using two or more 3D shapes. We were very creative with this challenge!
We have been working on non-fiction text features. this week we wrote a book using noon - fiction text features including a chart, a photograph, labels and captions.
100th Day!
We had so much fun celebrating the 100th day of kindergarten! We worked together to build 10 groups of 10 cups into towers. We used the number 100 to make a picture, we painted dots, and we decorated a paper cupcake with 100 sprinkles. The highlight of the day was making our 100 day small worth 10 pieces of each snack to have 100 things in our baggies. Last, we went on a gallery walk and saw the 100 day projects created at home by all of you! Thank you for making 100s day a success! We had so much fun dressing up in our costumes!
We had 5 Spiderman, The Hulk, Captain America, a "scary guy", Optimus Prime, a Storm Trooper, a Ninja Turtle, Tinkerbell, a devil princess, Smurfette, Anna and Elsa, Princess Jasmine, Jessie the Cowgirl, the Cowardly Lion, and a ninja! *If you were here and got some pictures, please send them to me! Here at Kingsley we can't let our students have ALL of the fun! 15 Kingsley staff members dressed up as Pete the Cat from the books Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes and Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons!

We thought it felt cold, squishy, gooey, and smelled "weird".
We have been working on counting how many words are in a sentence. Then we underline where our words will be. Last we write the sounds we hear in each word. We have come so far since August!
Ms. Stevenson is a UNI student who is going to school to be a teacher. She read us a book about feelings. We have been learning about making book to self connections.
Families,
Thank you so much for your generosity with pennies and books for our classroom! We raised $50.92 in pennies! We didn't win the pizza party. However, we've talked about how our classroom still won because we were able to get all of these books with your pennies and book fair purchases! Thanks again! It was great to see all of you at conferences! When your kindergartner knows that we work as a team, we can accomplish great things! Have a fabulous weekend! =) |
